31 – Dawud ibn Abi Hind related from ʿĀmir that he would recount the military campaigns of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a study circle attended by Ibn ʿUmar, and Ibn ʿUmar would say, “He narrates as though he had been present among the people.”

Zufar said: I heard Abu Hanifah — may Allah have mercy on him — say: I heard Hammad remark, “Whenever I observed Ibrahim, everyone who witnessed his conduct would say, ‘His conduct is exactly that of ʿAlqamah.’ And whoever had seen ʿAlqamah would say, ‘His conduct is exactly that of ʿAbd Allah.’ And whoever had seen the conduct of ʿAbd Allah would say, ‘His conduct is exactly that of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.’”

Abu Hamzah al-Ansari said: I heard ʿAbd Allah ibn Dawud recount, “I asked Abu Hanifah, ‘Which of the great scholars did you meet?’ He replied, ‘al-Qasim, Salim, Tawus, ʿIkrimah, ʿAbd Allah ibn Dinar, al-Hasan al-Basri, ʿAmr ibn Dinar, Abu al-Zubayr, ʿAtaʾ, Qatadah, Ibrahim, al-Shaʿbi, Nafiʿ, and others of similar rank.’”
