30 – Al-Haytham narrated from ʿIkrimah, from Ibn ʿAbbās: He sought permission to visit ʿĀʾishah while she was ill. She sent word: “I am overcome by grief and distress; please turn back.” He told the messenger, “I shall not leave until I have entered,” so she gave him leave. She then said, “I am weighed down by sorrow and anxiety, and I fear that something may strike me suddenly.” Ibn ʿAbbās replied, “By Allah, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, ‘ʿĀʾishah is in Paradise’; and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ is far too honoured in Allah’s sight for Him to have married him to a woman who belonged to the red dwellers of Hell.” She said, “You have relieved me; may Allah Most High relieve you.”
Al-Haytham also narrated from ʿĀmir al-Shaʿbī, who said: He used to recount the military campaigns, while Ibn ʿUmar listened. Whenever Ibn ʿUmar heard his narration he would say, “He relates as though he himself had witnessed the events.”
