3 – I was born in the year 80 AH. I performed the pilgrimage with my father in 96 AH, when I was sixteen years old. On entering the Sacred Mosque I noticed a study circle and asked my father, “Whose circle is this?” He replied, “It is the circle of ʿAbd Allah ibn al-Harith ibn Jazʾ, a Companion of the Prophet ﷺ.” I moved closer and heard him say, “I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ declare: ‘Whoever gains deep understanding of Allah’s religion, Allah will relieve him of his concerns and provide for him from sources he could never imagine.’”
