1 – Narrated by Nasih ibn ʿAbd Allah—also said to be Ibn ʿAjlan—and Yahya ibn Yaʿla, and Ishaq al-Saluli, and Abu ʿAbd Allah Muhammad ibn ʿAli ibn Nufayl al-Hafiz, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from Abu Salama, from Abu Hurayra (may Allah be pleased with him):
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Of all the sins by which Allah is disobeyed, none brings swifter punishment than oppression (bighy); and of all the acts by which Allah is obeyed, none earns a faster reward than maintaining the ties of kinship (silat al-rahim). A perjurious oath turns dwellings into desolate wastes.”
In another narration: “Nothing is rewarded more quickly than maintaining the ties of kinship, and nothing incurs swifter punishment than oppression and severing those ties. A perjurious oath turns dwellings into desolate wastes.”
In another narration: “No deed in which Allah is obeyed receives a speedier reward than maintaining the ties of kinship, and no deed in which Allah is disobeyed brings a quicker punishment than oppression. A perjurious oath turns dwellings into desolate wastes.”
And in another narration: “No punishment for a sin committed against Allah is meted out more quickly than that for oppression.”
