13 – Ḥammād narrated from Ibrāhīm, from ʿAlqamah, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd (may Allah be pleased with him): regarding a woman whose husband died before stipulating a bridal dower for her and before consummation. He said, “She is entitled to the customary dower of women of her rank, she inherits from him, and she must observe the waiting period.”

Maʿqil ibn Sinān al-Ashjaʿī then said, “I testify that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed judgment concerning Barwaʿ bint Wāshiq exactly as you have ruled.”

Ḥammād also narrated from Ibrāhīm, from ʿAlqamah, who said about the husband who has sworn to abstain from his wife (al-mūlī): “His retraction is through intercourse; but if he has a valid excuse, then his retraction is by a verbal declaration.”
