11 – Ḥammād narrated from Ibrāhīm, from al-Aswad: Subayʿa bint al-Ḥārith al-Aslamiyyah’s husband died while she was pregnant. She waited for twenty-five nights and then gave birth. Abū as-Sanābil ibn Baʿkak passed by and said, “Have you adorned yourself? Are you looking to marry? By Allah, the waiting period that applies to you is the longer of the two.” She went to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and related this to him, and he said, “He has lied; when a suitor comes, let me know.”
