Musnad Abi Hanifah Riwayat al-HaskafiAbu Hanifa

8 – Shaybān narrated from Yaḥyā, from Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ intended to give one of his daughters in marriage, he would say, “So-and-so has proposed to So-and-so,” and then he would marry her off.

In another version, Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: When the Prophet ﷺ married off one of his daughters, he would enter her private quarters and say, “So-and-so has asked for So-and-so,” and then he would give her in marriage.

A third narration says: Whenever a proposal was made for one of the Prophet’s ﷺ daughters, he would go to her chamber and say, “So-and-so has expressed interest in So-and-so,” and then he would proceed to solemnize the marriage.
