27 – Yaḥyā ibn Abī Ḥayyah Abū Junāb narrated from Hāniʾ ibn Zayd, from Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them), who said: “We left ʿArafat with him, and when we reached Jamʿ (Muzdalifah) he gave the iqāmah. We performed the maghrib prayer with him, after which he stepped forward and offered two rakʿahs. He then asked for some water; it was poured over him, and he lay down on his bedding. We remained seated for a long time waiting for the prayer. Eventually we said, ‘Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, the prayer!’ He asked, ‘Which prayer do you mean?’ We answered, ‘The late-night ʿishāʾ.’ He replied, ‘With respect to praying as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed, I have already done so.’”

In another wording from Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them): the Prophet ﷺ “combined maghrib and ʿishāʾ.”
