18 – ʿAdī transmitted, through Abū Ḥāzim, through Abū al-Shaʿthāʾ, from Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade ṣawm al-wiṣāl (fasting continuously without breaking the fast) and ṣawm al-ṣamt (the fast of silence).
