Musnad Abi Hanifah Riwayat al-HaskafiAbu Hanifa

87 – Hammād narrated from Ibrāhīm, from ʿAlqamah, from ʿAbd Allāh (may Allah be pleased with him): The sun was eclipsed on the day Ibrāhīm, the son of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, passed away. The Prophet ﷺ delivered a sermon and said, “The sun and the moon are two of Allah’s signs; they are not eclipsed because of anyone’s life or death. When you see this, perform the prayer, praise Allah, proclaim His greatness, and glorify Him until the eclipse has cleared—whichever of the two it is.” He then descended from the pulpit, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed two rakʿahs (units of prayer).
