16 – ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz narrated from Muṣʿab ibn Saʿd ibn Abī Waqqāṣ, from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “There is no soul whose point of entry, point of exit, and every encounter along its way have not already been written by Allah. A man from the Anṣār asked, ‘Then what is the purpose of action, O Messenger of Allah?’ He replied, ‘Act, for each person will find ease in doing what he was created for. As for those destined for wretchedness, the deeds of the wretched will be made easy for them; and as for those destined for felicity, the deeds of the felicitous will be made easy for them.’ The Anṣārī man then said, ‘Now action truly matters.’
In another narration he said: ‘Act, for everything has been made easy. Whoever is among the people of Paradise will be enabled to do the deeds of the people of Paradise, and whoever is among the people of the Fire will be enabled to do the deeds of its people.’ The Anṣārī man said, ‘Now action truly matters.’
