49 – Hammād narrated from Ibrāhīm, from ʿAlqamah, from ʿĀʾishah – Mother of the Believers – who said: When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ fell unconscious he said, “Instruct Abū Bakr to lead the people in prayer.” They said, “Messenger of Allah, Abū Bakr is a tender-hearted man, and he is reluctant to stand in your place.” He replied, “Tell Abū Bakr to lead the people in prayer, you little companions of Joseph!” and he kept repeating it.
