Al-Radd ʿalā man qāla bi-fanāʾ al-Janna wa-al-NārIbn Taimiya

The Prophetic traditions dealing with intercession for those who will be brought out of the Fire are numerous. Many of them attest that great numbers will indeed emerge from Hell, and several such reports ⦗9/b⦘ are recorded in the two Ṣaḥīḥ collections.

In the narration of Anas, intercession is mentioned time after time. The Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—describes the Hereafter, saying: “I will say, ‘My Lord, grant me permission regarding those who declared lā ilāha illā Allāh (there is no deity but Allah).’ Allah—Mighty and Majestic—will reply, ‘By My might, My majesty, My grandeur, and My greatness, I shall surely bring out of it whoever said lā ilāha illā Allāh.’” (1)

Another version reported by Muslim states: “That is not for you—or not up to you.” (2)
