Ishaq narrated to us: ‘Ubayd Allah ibn Muʿadh narrated to us, my father narrated to us, Shuʿbah narrated to us, from Yahya ibn Ayyub, from Abu Zurʿah and from Abu Hurayrah, who said:
“What I maintain is this: a day will surely come upon Jahannam when not a single soul will remain within it.”
He then recited:
“But as for those who were wretched, they will be in the Fire …” (1).
(1) This refers to verse 106 of sūrah Hūd. The athar is recorded by al-Suyūṭī in al-Durr al-manṭūr, vol. 4, p. 478, attributing it to Isḥāq ibn Rāhūyah via Abū Hurayrah. The margin in the printed edition states: “This isnād is good; Yaḥyā ibn Ayyūb al-Bajalī al-Jarrīrī, a descendant of Jareer ibn ‘Abd Allāh, is ṣādiq (truthful), and Yaḥyā ibn Ma‘īn said, ‘There is no harm in him.’” I note that Ibn Ḥajar in al-Taqrīb (no. 7510) remarks “no problem,” and all other transmitters are thiqqah (reliable). Hence, the ruling that this isnād is sound is fully justified.
{فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ شَقُوا فَفِي النَّارِ}
