ibn Sīrīn, from Abū Hurayra, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said, “People will keep asking you about knowledge until they say, ‘Allah created us, but who created Allah?’”

Abū Hurayra, while holding a man by the hand—meaning someone who had asked him this question—said, “Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth. Two people have already asked me, and this is the third,” or he said, “One person has already asked me, and this is the second.”

Abū Dāwūd and al-Nasā’ī also narrated it through another chain, with the wording: “If they say that, then say, ‘Allah is One; Allah, the Eternal Refuge
