and in their magnitude, attributes, and all other respects. But it is true that we have never witnessed anything coming into being except from something else, as Allah Most High has stated in His Mighty Book. He says:

“He created man from dry clay like pottery {14}, and created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire {15}.” [al-Rahmān 14, 15]

And He says:

“We certainly created man from an extract of clay {12}. Then We placed him as a sperm-drop in a secure resting place {13}. Then We made the sperm-drop into a clinging clot, then made the clot into a lump of flesh, then made the lump into bones, then clothed the bones with flesh; then We brought him forth as another creation. So blessed is Allah, the best of creators {14}.” [al-Mu'minūn 12, 13, 14]

And He, Most High, says:

“And the water Allah sends down from the sky, giving life thereby to the earth after its death and spreading throughout it every kind of creature.” [al-Baqarah 164]

And He says:

“It is He who sends the winds as glad tidings ahead of His mercy, until, when they bear heavy clouds, We drive them to a lifeless land and send down water there, bringing forth every kind of fruit thereby. Thus do We bring forth the dead, so that you may take heed {57}.” [al-A'rāf 57]

And He says:

“Allah caused you to grow from the earth {17}. Then He will return you to it and bring you forth again {18}.” [Nūh 17, 18]

And He, Most High, says:

“He brought you into being from the earth and caused you to inhabit it.” [Hūd 61]

And He, Most High, says:

“And after that He spread out the earth {30}, bringing forth from it its water and pasture {31}.” [al-Nāzi'āt 30, 31]

And He, Most High, says:

“And the earth—We spread it out, placed firm mountains upon it, and caused every kind of beautiful plant to grow in it {7}, as a means of insight and a reminder for every
