Safwān, who elaborated on and reworked this teaching, calling others to it, until through him it became a doctrine. He continued calling men to it, while his wife Zuhra called women to it, until the two had led a great many of Allah’s creatures astray.

As for Ja‘d, he was of Khazar origin, according to what we were told in a report traced back to Qutayba ibn Sa‘īd. But it was Jahm who elaborated on that doctrine and expounded it; he was the proponent of that vile doctrine. Warnings about him had already been given, according to the account transmitted to us.
