this: that speculative theology is a protection and shield for the Sunnah, defending it and guarding its inviolable domain with its weapons.
I understand what you have described of your distress at sitting with them and your difficulty in parting company with them, for you are caught between accepting their claims and opposing them by rejecting and denouncing those claims. Both courses are difficult for you. As for acceptance, your religion forbids it, and the evidence of the Quran and Sunnah stands in your way. As for rejection and opposition, they demand rational proofs from you, hold you to the rules of dialectical argument, and are not satisfied with what is outwardly evident.
You have asked me to provide whatever knowledge and clarification I can muster in support of the truth, and whatever arguments and proofs I can offer to refute their doctrine, following an approach they cannot reject and cannot reasonably deny. I therefore consider responding to your request a duty owed to the religion and part of the obligation to offer sincere counsel to the Muslim community. I ask Allah Most High to grant me success
