Indeed, a great many Muslims have adopted their doctrine, including “Muʿammar ibn ʿAbbād al-Sulamī” among the Muʿtazilites, “Muhammad ibn Nuʿmān” among the Rāfidites, and “Abū al-Qāsim al-Rāghib” and “Abū Hāmid al-Ghazālī” among scholars of our own school. If this is so, how can it be said that the assertion that Allah Most High neither occupies space nor inheres in anything that occupies space is rejected by the most elementary dictates of reason?”
