truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise. A man continues to speak the truth until he is recorded with Allah as a man of truth. Beware of lying, for lying leads to wickedness, and wickedness leads to the Fire. A man continues to lie and deliberately pursue falsehood until he is recorded with Allah as a liar.”

Thus, the affluent inhabitants of the towns, of whom Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said:

“But those who did wrong pursued the luxury they had been given, and they were evildoers (116).” [Hūd 116]

And concerning the companions of the left, He said:

“Indeed, before that they had lived in luxury (45), and they persisted in the great sin (46).” [al-Wāqiʿah 45–46]
