Bayān Talbīs al-JahmiyyaIbn Taimiya

Then, after telling of His grasping the earth and folding up the heavens in His right hand, He—glorified and exalted is He—mentioned the blowing of the Trumpet and how everyone in the heavens and the earth would be struck down, except those whom Allah wills. He then mentioned the second blast, at which they will rise; how the earth will shine with the light of its Lord; how the Record will be set down and the prophets and witnesses brought forward; and how every soul will be repaid in full for what it has done. He mentioned the disbelievers being driven to Hell and the believers being led to Paradise, concluding with His words, Most High:

“They will say, ‘Praise be to Allah, who has fulfilled His promise to us and made us inherit the earth, so that we may settle in Paradise wherever we wish.’ How excellent is the reward of those who work! (74) And you will see the angels surrounding the Throne, glorifying their Lord with praise. Judgment will be passed between them in truth, and it will be said, ‘Praise be to Allah, Lord of all worlds.’ (75)” [al-Zumar: 74–75]

The Throne is not included among the things that will be grasped, folded up, replaced, or changed, as He says in the passage:

“And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crushing. (14) On that Day, the Inevitable Event will occur, (15) and the sky will split apart, becoming frail that Day. (16) The angels will be at its edges, and eight will bear the Throne of your Lord above them that Day. (17)” [al-Hāqqah: 14–17]

He then spoke in absolute terms of the continued existence of Paradise and Hell, without telling us in detail what will happen thereafter. Rather, the detailed account extends only to the coming of
