from al-Mughīrah, from Wāsil ibn Habbān, from Abū al-Ahwas, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd, from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, who said: ‘The Quran was revealed in seven modes. Each of its verses has an outward and an inward aspect, and every limit has a point of access.’”
