“And many generations in between.” (38) [al-Furqān 38]

Allah thus revealed matters without specifying their details, so that the believer might believe in them and thereby attain bliss, and the disbeliever might reject them and thereby suffer misery.

He said: The second view is that they know its interpretation and are therefore included in the exception. Mujāhid narrated that Ibn ‘Abbās, may Allah be pleased with them both, said: “I am among those who know its interpretation.” This is the view of Mujāhid and al-Rabī‘, and it was adopted by Ibn Qutayba and Abū Sulaymān al-Dimashqī.
