He said: The sixth is His saying, Most High:
“A guidance for the God-fearing (2).” [al-Baqarah 2]
What is not understood cannot serve as guidance.
The seventh is His saying, Most High:
“Perfect wisdom.” [al-Qamar 5]
And His saying, Most High:
“A healing for what is in the hearts, and guidance and mercy for the believers (57).” [Yūnus 57]
None of these qualities can be found in what is not understood.
The eighth is His saying, Most High:
“There has come to you from Allah a light and a clear Book (15).” [al-Mā’idah 15]
It cannot be clear unless it is understood.
The ninth is His saying, Most High:
“Is it not enough for them that We have sent down to you the Book, which is recited to them? Surely in this is mercy and a reminder for people who believe (51).” [al-‘Ankabūt 51]
How, then, can the Book be sufficient, and how can it be a reminder, if it is not understood?
The tenth is His saying, Most High:
“This is a message for humanity, so that they may be warned by it.” [Ibrāhīm 52]
How can it be a message, and how can it convey a warning, if it is not understood? And His saying at the end of the verse:
“And so that those of understanding may take heed (52).”
