the Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, reported, and that what they say about it amounts to denying part of what belief in Allah and the Last Day entails. This is a grave matter: in this they echo the teachings of the Sabian philosophers, the esoteric Qarmatians, and their like—people whom no believer doubts deny Allah’s signs and the meeting with Him, and who are among those of whom it is said:

“If they testify, do not testify with them, and do not follow the desires of those who deny Our signs and those who do not believe in the Hereafter and who ascribe equals to their Lord.”
