convey this meaning in the language in which they communicate, either literally or figuratively, it cannot be interpreted in that sense.
The tenth argument: Regarding his explanation in the second argument that meeting means the manifestation of His power, His dominion, and His terrible might on that Day, he should be told: Interpreting meeting as the manifestation of one party’s power over the other assigns the word a meaning with absolutely no basis in Arabic. Indeed, it is self-evident from their language that this is not what meeting means. Although this may occur in some encounters—just as honouring someone may occur on one occasion and punishment on another—the word “meeting” does not denote merely these circumstances, which may or may not accompany what is ordinarily understood by the word. Likewise, seeing someone may be accompanied by sitting together, sharing a meal, honouring them, punishing them, or something else. Yet the word “seeing” does not mean these things, which may accompany the act of seeing in some instances.
The eleventh argument: Allah Most High says:
“O you who believe, remember Allah abundantly (41) and glorify Him morning and evening. (42) It is He who bestows His blessings upon you, and His angels pray for you, so that He may bring you out of darkness into light. And He is ever Merciful to the believers. (43) Their greeting on the Day they meet Him will be ‘Peace,’ and He has prepared for them a noble reward. (44)”
