Thus, no one among the early generations of this community or its imams, nor any scholar of Arabic or Quranic exegesis, held this view.
The eighth argument: The Quran and hadiths explicitly state that the disbelievers will meet Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and that whoever denies this is a disbeliever. For example, Allah Most High says:
“Lost indeed are those who deny the meeting with Allah.” [al-An‘ām 31]
And He says:
“And on the Day He gathers them, it will be as though they had remained only an hour of the day, recognizing one another. Lost indeed are those who deny the meeting with Allah and were not guided.” (45) [Yūnus 45]
And Allah Most High says:
“Among them are those who pledged to Allah, ‘If He gives us of His bounty, we will surely give in charity and be among the righteous.’ (75) But when He gave them of His bounty, they withheld it and turned away in aversion. (76) So He punished them with hypocrisy in their hearts until the Day they meet Him, because they broke the promise they had made to Allah.” [al-Tawbah 75-77]
And He says:
“Those are the ones who disbelieved in the signs of their Lord and in meeting Him, so their deeds came to nothing.” [al-Kahf 105]
And He says:
“Those who disbelieve in Allah’s signs and in meeting Him—it is they who have despaired of My mercy.” [al-‘Ankabūt 23]
And He says:
“Indeed, many people disbelieve in the meeting with their Lord.” (8) [al-Rūm 8]
And He says:
“Indeed, they are in doubt about meeting their Lord. Indeed, He encompasses all things.” (54) [Fussilat 54]
