And it is well known that most members of either force did not touch anyone from the other, although some of them may have come into physical contact. Likewise, Allah Most High says:

“If you have believed in Allah and in what We sent down to Our servant on the Day of Criterion—the day the two forces met.” [al-Anfāl 41]

And He says:

“And when He showed them to you as few in your eyes when you met, and made you appear few in their eyes.” [al-Anfāl 44]

He thus described the two forces as meeting when they came within sight of one another, before they came into contact. The following verse illustrates the same usage:

“Whenever you meet me, just the two of us,
the lower folds of your buttocks will tremble, and terror will seize you.”
