—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—until we reached al-Kadīd—or he said, Qudayd. He praised and extolled Allah, then said: ‘When a third of the night—or two-thirds of the night—has passed, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, descends to the lowest heaven and says: “Who will call upon Me, that I may answer him? Who will seek My forgiveness, that I may forgive him? Who will ask of Me, that I may give him?”—until dawn breaks.’”
