Bayān Talbīs al-JahmiyyaIbn Taimiya

This argument cited by the author—namely, the appeal by those who liken Allah to created beings to His name al-Samad, understood as “the One with no hollow interior,” in support of their claim that He is a body—is well known in the writings of earlier and later scholars. Both those who deny corporeality and those who affirm it have counted this among the arguments of the latter, as the author mentions. Some of them, however, reject this interpretation and give only “the Master” as the meaning of al-Samad, as Abū Hāmid did in his commentary
