Bayān Talbīs al-JahmiyyaIbn Taimiya

And a house described as musammad, with the m doubled, is one to which people turn. Samd, with no vowel after the m, means elevated, rugged ground. Abū al-Najm said:

‘It leaves the high ground like the back of a saddle-galled camel.’

A structure described as musmad is one raised high. Musmad is also a variant of musmat, meaning something solid with no internal cavity, as al-Jawharī states. Hence the poet’s words:

‘A flame of war, his steeds forever grim-faced,
Champing on the solid bit.’
