and many Qur’anic commentators and others, including Muhammad ibn Jarīr al-Tabarī, have related this from him concerning His saying, “al-Samad”:
“He is the Master, perfect in His sovereignty; the Noble, perfect in His nobility; the Magnificent, perfect in His greatness; the Forbearing, perfect in His forbearance; the Self-Sufficient, perfect in His self-sufficiency; the Compeller, perfect in His overwhelming might; the All-Knowing, perfect in His knowledge; and the All-Wise, perfect in His wisdom. He is perfect in every form of nobility and sovereignty. He is Allah, Mighty and Majestic. Such is His description, befitting Him alone. He has no equal, and nothing is like Him. So glory be to Allah, the One, the All-Subduing.”
