the sense that He deserves to be sought for such needs. This entitlement is not invalidated, nor does this attribute cease, because some turn away from the truth and are turned away from the path. For if He is the Creator and the One who governs His creation, with no creator other than Him and none who governs besides Him, then turning away from seeking Him to fulfil a need—when that need in reality rests with Him and none but He can fulfil it—is ignorance and folly. Ignorance of Allah—exalted be His majesty—is disbelief.’”

Al-Bayhaqī then cited a report from the commentary with chains of transmission, through Muʿāwiyah ibn Sālih, from ʿAlī ibn Abī Talhah al-Wālibī, from Ibn ʿAbbās.
