Qays ibn al-Rabī' narrated to us, from 'Āsim ibn Abī al-Najūd, from Shaqīq ibn Salamah, who said: Quraysh said to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, “Tell us the lineage of your Lord.” Then the following was revealed:

“Say: He is Allah, the One (1).
Allah, the Eternal Refuge”—to the end of the surah.

Al-Tabarānī said: Al-Firyābī and others did not trace it beyond Shaqīq ibn Salamah, whereas 'Ubayd ibn Ishāq al-'Attār transmitted it with a connected chain from Qays, from 'Āsim, from Abū Wā'il, from 'Abd Allāh.

Al-Haytham ibn Khalaf al-Dūrī narrated to us, saying: We were told by Abū Usāmah 'Ubayd Allāh
