Surayj ibn Yūnus narrated to us: Ismā'īl ibn Mujālid narrated to us, from Mujālid, from al-Sha'bī, from Jābir, who said: They said, “O Messenger of Allah, tell us the lineage of your Lord.” Then the following was revealed:

“Say: He is Allah, the One (1).
Allah, the Eternal Refuge (2).
He neither begets nor is born (3),
and there is none comparable to Him (4).”
