is like describing Him as the Most Merciful of those who show mercy, and as more merciful to His servant than a mother is to her child. Likewise, the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said to Abū Mas‘ūd:
“By Allah, Allah has greater power over you than you have over this man.”
The same applies to knowledge, as in the words of the Most High:
“He knows you best, from when He created you from the earth and when you were embryos in your mothers’ wombs.” [al-Najm 32]
The same applies to speech, as in the words of the Most High:
“And who is more truthful than Allah
كوصفه بأنه أرحم الراحمين وأنه أرحم بعبده من الوالدة بولدها وكذلك قول النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم لأبي مسعود والله لله عليك أقدر منك على هذا وكذلك العلم كقوله تعالى هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِكُمْ إِذْ أَنْشَأَكُمْ مِنَ الْأَرْضِ وَإِذْ أَنْتُمْ أَجِنَّةٌ فِي بُطُونِ أُمَّهَاتِكُمْ
[النجم ٣٢]
وكذلك الكلام كقوله تعالى وَمَنْ أَصْدَقُ مِنَ اللَّهِ
