He praised Himself.”
In a version recorded by Muslim:
“No one loves an excuse more than Allah; for that reason, He sent down the Book and sent the messengers.”
The two Sahīh collections record from al-Mughīrah ibn Shuʿbah that Saʿd ibn ʿUbādah said, “If I saw a man with my wife, I would strike him with the sword’s edge, not its flat.” When this reached the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, he said:
“Are you surprised at Saʿd’s jealousy? By Allah, I am indeed more jealous than he is, and Allah is more jealous than I am. It is because of Allah’s jealousy that He has forbidden shameful deeds, both open and hidden. No one loves an excuse more than Allah; for that reason, He sent warners and bearers of glad tidings. No one loves an excuse more than Allah; for that reason, He has promised us Paradise.”
