Muslims have differed over calling Allah al-Dahr (Time).
In the Sahīh, Abū Hurayra reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“Let none of you revile Time, for Allah is Time. And let none of you call grapes ‘the noble,’ for the noble one is the Muslim man.”
Also in the Sahīh, Abū Hurayra (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say:
“Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said: ‘The son of Adam reviles Time, yet I am Time; I alternate night and day.’”
In another version:
“The son of Adam offends Me by saying, ‘Woe to Time!’ Yet I am Time; I alternate its night and day, and when I will, I take them both away.”
These are Muslim’s wordings.
