Sahl, who said: ‘Amr ibn Talhah al-Qannād narrated to us: Asbāt narrated to us, from Simāk, from ‘Ikrimah, from Ibn ‘Abbās, who said concerning the words of Allah Most High, ‘And he certainly saw him on another descent’ (13): ‘The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, saw his Lord, Mighty and Majestic.’ A man said to him, ‘Has He not said, “No vision can encompass Him, but He encompasses all vision”?’ ‘Ikrimah said to him, ‘Do you not see the sky?’ He replied, ‘Yes.’ He asked, ‘But do you see all of it?’

This is also narrated through other chains. Hence Abū Bakr ibn Abī ‘Āsim entitled the chapter, ‘Reports concerning the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, seeing his Lord.’
