who reported that Atā had informed him that he heard Ibn Abbās say that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) saw his Lord with his heart twice.’ I said, ‘Abū Abd Allāh, Āishah says that he did not see Him’—and I think I also said to him, ‘As does Abū Dharr.’ He replied, ‘They differed over seeing Him in this world, but none disputed seeing Him in the Hereafter except these Jahmiyyah.’ I asked, ‘Do you find fault with those who declare them disbelievers?’ He replied, ‘No.’ I asked, ‘Then are they to be declared disbelievers?’ He replied, ‘Yes.’”

Al-Khallāl recorded this question and its answer elsewhere in al-Sunnah, saying, “He related exactly the same exchange as in Hubaysh’s question.” He had previously recorded Hubaysh’s question.
