and said, “The Bakriyyah maintain that Allah will create a form on the Day of Resurrection in which He will be seen and from which He will speak to His creation”?
The answer is: According to them, Allah Himself is not seen and does not speak to His servants. Rather, He creates a form in which He is seen and in which He speaks to His creation. It is clear that this is not what the hadith means. Having concluded through their own reasoning that He cannot be seen, yet finding that the revealed texts affirm that He will be seen, these people differed over this matter, adopting various views.
Al-Ash‘arī said: “Some, including Dirār ibn ‘Amr and Hafs al-Fard, maintained that Allah is not seen with the eyes. Rather, on the Day of Resurrection He will create for us a sixth sense, distinct from our present senses, through which we will perceive Him and perceive what He is.”
