and He will say, ‘I am your Lord.’ They will say, ‘You are our Lord.’ Then the bridge will be laid across Hell.
In another version, recorded in al-Bukhārī, a caller will proclaim, ‘Let every people go to what they used to worship.’ The followers of the cross will go with their cross, the followers of idols with their idols, and the followers of every deity with their deities, until only those who used to worship Allah, righteous and wicked alike, and remnants of the People of the Book remain.
Then Hell will be brought forth and displayed as though it were a mirage. The Jews will be asked, ‘What did you used to worship?’ They will say, ‘We used to worship Ezra, the son of Allah.’ They will be told, ‘You have lied! Allah never had a consort or a son. What do you want?’ They will say, ‘We want you to give us something to drink.’ They will be told, ‘Drink!’ Then they will tumble into Hell.
Then the Christians will be asked, ‘What did you used to worship?’ They will say, ‘We used to worship the Messiah, the son of Allah.’
