clay. (71) When I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My spirit, fall down before him in prostration.” (72) [Sād 71-72]

And Iblīs said:

“I would never prostrate before a human being whom You created from sounding clay made from dark, altered mud.” (33) [Al-Hijr 33]

And He said:

“He created man from sounding clay like pottery, (14) and He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire.” (15) [Al-Rahmān 14-15]

And the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: “Allah created Adam from a handful that He took from all parts of the earth. His descendants thus came to reflect that handful: among them are the black, the white, and those in between; the wicked, the good, and those in between; and the easygoing, the harsh, and those in between.”
