a non-physical attribute. For the fact that one is knowing and powerful, that one exists and the other exists, that one is an essence, that one is an essence possessing attributes and the other is an essence possessing attributes necessarily establishes resemblance, as explained earlier.
The eighth point: The scriptural and rational proofs that establish those attributes have counterparts that establish this form. Just as the existence of an essence without attributes is rationally impossible, and attributes of perfection are established by revelation and reason, so too the existence of an essence bearing no resemblance whatsoever to existing things is rationally impossible, and resemblance in certain respects concerning attributes of perfection is established by revelation and reason. Just as every existent must possess attributes that subsist in it, every self-subsisting existent must have a form in which it exists. It is impossible for there to be a self-subsisting existent that has no form in which it subsists.
