ʿAwn say: “I heard Yazīd ibn Hārūn say, ‘Al-Jawāribī and al-Marīsī are disbelievers.’ I also heard Yazīd ibn Hārūn mention al-Jawāribī and cite him as an example, saying, ‘As for Dāwūd al-Jawāribī, he was crossing the bridge at Wāsit on his way to the Eid celebration when the bridge collapsed, and those on it drowned. Then a devil emerged and said, “I am Dāwūd al-Jawāribī.”’”
