I heard Shādh ibn Yahyā al-Wāsitī say: “I was sitting with Yazīd ibn Hārūn when a man came and asked, ‘Abū Khālid, what do you say about the Jahmites?’ He replied, ‘They should be called upon to repent, for the Jahmites went to extremes and carried their extremism further until they reached negation. Those who liken Allah to His creation likewise went to extremes and carried their extremism further until they arrived at such likeness. Thus, the Jahmites should be called upon to repent, while those who liken Allah to His creation are such-and-such’—he levelled a grave charge against them.”
