Bayān Talbīs al-JahmiyyaIbn Taimiya

Allah should come to them in canopies of clouds, together with the angels, and the matter be decided? And to Allah all matters are returned.” (210) [al-Baqarah 210]

The fifth interpretation, which is stronger than all the preceding ones, is this: We mentioned in al-Tafsīr al-kabīr that the words of Allah Most High,

“O you who believe, enter into Islam completely.” [al-Baqarah 208]

“But if you slip after clear proofs have come to you” [al-Baqarah 209]

would be addressed to the Jews. Thus, His words,

“Are they waiting for anything but that Allah should come to them in canopies of clouds” [al-Baqarah 210]
