And all of this shows that the apparent meaning of the hadith is not that Allah is the faculty of sight. Rather, its apparent meaning is what its wording makes evident and what the Messenger explained, in language of the highest quality and clarity. No one can explain and convey what the Messenger reports from his Lord more clearly than the Messenger himself.
Allah has kept him above uttering words whose apparent meaning is disbelief, misguidance, falsehood, or absurdity without himself dispelling that apparent meaning and casting truth against falsehood until truth becomes manifest and falsehood is obscured. How could this be, when the Lord has guaranteed to make His religion prevail over all religion through the ascendancy of knowledge and proof, and of power and victory? He has declared that He sent him with guidance and the religion of truth. How, then, could his words lead people astray by apparently conveying misguidance without his clarifying that?
