Al-Rāzī said: “Eighth: The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, reporting from Allah: ‘I am with those whose hearts are broken.’ This means only that He is with them through His mercy. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, also said, reporting from Allah Most High concerning His friends: ‘When I love him, I become his hearing with which he hears and his sight with which he sees.’ It is self-evident that the faculty of sight by which one sees things is not Allah Most High.”
