while permitting zakat to be given to students of jurisprudence. Toward the end of his life, however, he inclined toward the way of the people of hadith and frequently studied Sahīh al-Bukhārī. Thus he concluded his life’s work and died upon that path, which was his best state. May Allah Most High forgive us and all our brothers who preceded us in faith, and place no rancor in our hearts toward those who believe. Our Lord, You are indeed Most Kind, Most Merciful.

Nevertheless, Abū Hāmid is not known to have ventured in his writings into polytheism or idol worship. Rather, the furthest he goes is the misguidance of the Sabian philosophers and their like.
